Compare DIRECTV and DISH Channels

8/16/25: DISH removes HBO channels from Everything Pak Not totally DISH's fault, but HBO is restructuring their service and the only way to get HBO and Cinemax on DISH now is via a premium add-on pack (extra charge). We've removed it from DISH in the table above (dash mark across all DISH plans).

→ DIRECTV impact: for now, HBO is still a free part of DIRECTV's Premier plan (no extra charge).

2/11/24: DIRECTV and Fox reach agreement Thankfully a quick negotiation, both sides reached a multi-year agreement and all channels have been restored.

2/3/24: DIRECTV and COX dispute force 12 local affiliates dark In an unfortunately predictable negotiation process, 12 Fox local affiliates have gone dark (affecting about 1 million customers).

11/30/23: DIRECTV and Tegna: ABC and NBC affiliates go dark After not being able to reach an agreement before the 11/30 deadline, subscribers that live in one of Tegna's 52 markets may have lost ABC or NBC channels (it depends on your exact location). As with previous blackouts, we expect this to resolve within a few weeks but you never know.

→ DISH impact: no effect here. DISH still carries all Tegna affiliates in all markets.

5/10/23: NFL Red Zone not (yet) available on DIRECTV With DIRECTV losing the NFL Sunday Ticket for the 2023 season, most subscribers are hoping they'll add the NFL Red Zone to make up for the loss. Rumor is it may happen but there's still no guarantee.

→ DISH impact: you can get it with DISH via the Multi-Sport Pack ($5.99/mo or $50/yr).

3/22/23: Newsmax & DIRECTV reach agreement After a months-long, heated dispute, the two parties finally reached a multi-year agreement. The channel is back in DIRECTV's line-up.

1/25/23: Newsmax pulled from DIRECTV Due to a licensing fee dispute, Newsmax has cut its DIRECTV feed (weeks later, there's still no resolution, so it's anyone's guess how this shakes down).

→ DISH impact: there's currently no impact with DISH, they carry Newsmax in all their plans
