A chunk of Fubo's missing channels are due to active licensing disputes with various studios. So, we group them by studio below. As you can see, a fair amount of popular channels are missing (NBC, A&E, History, etc). Fubo has decreased their plan prices to account for that. For some, that mostly makes up for the decreased programming. Your mileage may vary...

The good news here is that DIRECTV has no current, major disputes. So, you'll get all the programming you expect.

Final Thoughts

Let's start with the obvious -- Fubo has a bunch of active licensing disputes with major studios. Especially with the Olympics coming up (broadcast by NBC), there's no doubt Fubo has lost customers. That said, they still have a ton of other channels and didn't lose all that much with respect to sports. And sports is their main selling point.

Speaking of sports, both providers feature a ton of NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and soccer. Fubo started as a soccer-heavy provider, even its name comes from "futbol" (Spanish for soccer). So, they have more channels dedicated to club soccer tournaments across the world. Soccer fans should probably seriously consider Fubo over DIRECTV.

On the flip side, DIRECTV has the most overall sports coverage out there. Starting with regional sports networks (RSN), they have THE best coverage so you'll always get access to your local teams' games. A lot of those agreements carried over from their satellite service (which has partnerships that have lasted for decades). So, if you don't watch a bunch of smaller soccer tournaments, you can't really go wrong with DIRECTV.
