Fubo Deals
At any given time of the year, Fubo seems to have a promo active. It's usually a discount off the first month. At other times, a free add-on pack for a month or two. Either way, the value tends to be about the same ($20-$40) and it's always only available to new customers. If you previously had Fubo and it's been over a year, you'll sometimes still qualify (if not, consider having another family sign up under a different email account).
Fubo's current deal is for up to $25 off first month. Here's how the discount is applied across their major plans:
1 Promo pricing for 1 month
As you can see, the full first-month discount is applied to two base plans: Pro and Elite. They're the most popular so it works out well for most. Now, let's see how valuable this promo really is...
Deal Value: 4.7/5
Comparing this offer to all the previous ones over the past five years, it has relatively good value. There was perhaps one last year with slightly more value but this one's right up there. Fubo doesn't really give firm expiration dates on their deals so it's anyone's guess when it'll go away. If you're interested in trying Fubo out, it's a pretty good time to get in.
Remember, only new customers to Fubo qualify. They track previous subscriptions based on your email address (not card on file or IP address) so it is possible to have another family member sign up to qualify for the deal.
If that's not an option and it's been at least 12 months since you last had Fubo, they'll sometimes reset your new customer status. You'll need to contact Fubo support (chat works best) and put in the request.
Versus other providers
Compared to streaming providers that usually compete with Fubo (e.g., Sling and DIRECTV Stream), their current deal stacks up pretty well...
They all have the same type of offer (first month discount) with similar percent discounts. Fubo most closely compares to DIRECTV Stream so it's no surprise their discounts are in the same ballpark. Sling is a skinny bundle provider with less expensive plans, so the actual dollar amount discounted is less (~$22.99). Overall, expect to save roughly the same percentage across these three providers.
5-day Free Trial
For years, Fubo has given prospective subscribers a chance to try things out with a 5-day trial. It's an unrestricted trial, meaning you have access to everything on that plan (all channels, PPV, leagues, etc)... same as long-term subscribers to that plan. If you chose an add-on pack during sign-up, those channels will be available as well.
Regarding payment options, you will need to add a card or payment type of some sort to start the trial. It won't get charged at any point during the trial -- once your trial is over, your first month's charge kicks in. Last thing, the trial period starts the hour and minute of the day you signed up. It'll renew exactly 5 days later, at the same hour. So, if you're unsure on whether you're going to sign up, set yourself a reminder on your phone.
Deals for Current Subscribers
What if you're already a Fubo subscriber? As with most TV services, they put a bunch of value on acquiring new customers. That's how a service and company ultimately grows. Keeping current customers (happy) is right up there as well. That's usually done with excellent programming (for the price), quality sites/apps and a responsive customer service. It's pretty rare for TV providers to give their current subscribers a bonus anywhere equal to the sign-up discount. That said, Fubo periodically gives free access to channels or PPV, especially to loyal subscribers (>6 months). For example, free access for a few days to Showtime or other premium subscriptions.
When they're active, you won't need to do anything on your end - you'll get an email alert with dates and simply tune into the channel(s) while it's live.
Wrapping up
Fubo is one of fastest growing TV providers out there (streaming, cable, etc). That didn't happen by accident. They constantly have high-value promos running to attract new folks, especially those leaving competitors. They tend to be a pretty "sticky" service as well -- once someone signs up (even expecting to cancel before the trial is over), a good percentage decide to stick around. Those rates are particularly good with sports fans, as soccer and major sports programming are a clear advantage over competitors.
