Spectrum Internet Advantage
Spectrum Advantage is their first and least-expensive internet plan. For a smart $30/mo, you get 100 Mbps of download (20 Mbps upload). That price is good for 12 months during the 1-year promotional period. Thereafter, the regular rate kicks in at $50/mo - a fairly big increase but still competitive with other providers. And, as with other Spectrum plans, there's no contract and you can cancel anytime.
Regarding equipment, Spectrum offers a free modem to all subscribers. We always recommend using your own router but if you don't have one (or aren't comfortable setting one up), renting a router from Spectrum will run you $10/mo.
PERFECT FOR: households with up to 3 connected devices that surf and stream on a regular basis.
For context, here's a quick look at the three Spectrum plans (all contract-free).

Spectrum Internet Advantage features
Spectrum internet subscribers get access to a solid amount of features. The most valuable include...

Similar to Xfinity, one of Spectrum's biggest perks is free access to public WiFi Hotspots. So, when you're away from home, connect to a local hotspot and save your mobile data.

Avoid the stress of having to stay under a monthly data cap. Spectrum has true no-cap internet plans. No tricks. No small print or throttling.

Bundle internet with two unlimited mobile lines for a big discount... or exclusively for Spectrum Internet customers: One line of Unlimited Mobile included for a full year. Get in touch with a customer service representative for all the details.
What you can do with 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload
100 Mbps is a good chunk of speed. Most smaller households will never experience any throttling or slowdown, even during peak hours. Surprisingly, upload speed with this plan is above average at 20 Mbps. That'll let you upload files or email attachments quite a bit faster than usual.

Price, Fees and Discounts
With the recent trend in pricing transparency across the inteenet industry, prices and fees are MUCH easier to understand. So, the days of hidden fees and sticker shock on the first bill are largely over. Here are the fees you can expect with Spectrum:
Spectrum 300 fees
Router (Advanced WiFi)
This is Spectrum's router and is a good option if you don't have your own equipment. Fee is $7/mo. Remember, Spectrum provides a free modem so this is the only fee when it comes to getting WiFi setup..
Activation fee
Getting your internet setup usually includes an activation fee of $30 (whether you or a technician installs it).
Monthly Tax
Lastly, some states require an added tax be added to your bill. For internet service, that tends to be $2-$4 a month.
Autopay discount
Spectrum used to offer an autopay discount but that's no longer he case. That discount was basically rolled into the retail price so everyone now saves a few bucks a month.
Spectrum Internet Advantage Bill (1st year)
So, combining all the features and fees, here's roughly what your first bill will look like (if you rent their equipment). Sign up for autopay for the convenience but it no longer lowers your bill.
Hidden fees
Spectrum is very clear and forward with all their fees. The only fee most folks need to worry about is a late fee...:
- Late payment fee - if you're late by more than 21 days, a fee of $7.25 to $8.45 will typically be applied to your bill (amount depends on your area).

No. While Spectrum does have options for lower-income households, anyone can order the Advantage plan.

Can I setup everything on my own and save a few bucks?
Setting up Spectrum internet is quite easy, with or without your own router. Hook everything up and activate yoir service via their app or calling up a customer service rep..
