MLB Playoffs - Broadcast Rights

This year, TV rights for the postseason are largely the same as last year. ESPN, Fox and TBS hold all the cards. Each round is covered by a different set of networks. The Wild Card round requires multiple channels as there often up to four games a day. ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 will share that coverage.

The Division and League Championship rounds are solely broadcast by Fox, FS1 and TBS (along with truTV and TUDN). Fox has the rights to the American League. TBS, truTV and TUDN will broadcast the National League games. For the World Series, Fox will carry all the games.

  • Wild Card Series starts Sep 30th - ABC, ESPN, ESPN2
  • Division Series starts Oct 4th - ALDS (FOX, FS1), NLDS (TBS, TUDN)
  • Championship Series starts Oct 12th - ALCS (FOX, FS1), NLCS (TBS, TUDN)
  • World Series starts Oct 24th - FOX

How to Watch the 2026 MLB Postseason

If you don't have traditional cable or satellite TV, it's not super easy to watch the playoffs. Most streaming services give you access to at least a couple of the channels above but not at all. And, if you're just looking for a temporary solution to watch the games, your options get smaller and more expensive. Cross-checking the channels with available providers and their current deals and trials, we most often recommend Fubo for the MLB playoffs. They have all the channels (except for TBS), offer a 5-day trial and have a solid first-month discount right now (save $30).

Which plan to choose? Well, they have two English options: Pro and Elite. Pro offers 243 channels for $54.99/mo. It includes a full lineup that covers all the categories (news, sports, entertainment, family and movies). Sports is a big plus with Fubo, and includes all the major MLB and baseball channels. Regarding the lack of TBS, you can still catch the NLDS and NLCS games in Spanish on TUDN.

Who's the Broadcast Team for the World Series?

For years, Joe Buck and team broadcast all the big MLB games on Fox. More recently, Joe Davis took over as the play-by-play guy with John Smoltz as the primary color commentator. For good measure, Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci provide insightful stats and stories. Before and after the game, the studio team takes over. That foursome for the 2026 October classic is: Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez and Kevin Burkhardt. A solid mix of captains with a ton of playoff experience. Overall, kudos to Fox for putting together an excellent mix of talent for the entire broadcast.
