How to watch The Weather Channel without cable in 2026
If you check on weather a lot or just dig tracking storms, the Weather Channel (TWC) is probably on your favorites list. It's the original 24/7 weather channel and even decades after its debut, still the leader of the (meteorological) pack. Fortunately, it's pretty widely available -- we typically recommend it via Fubo, DIRECTV and Hulu. Let's get into all the details...
Table of Contents
Weather Channel on Fubo - our recommended service
- Channels: 304
- Best price: $9.99
- 5-day free trial
WatchFubo has a relatively long history - starting as a sports-heavy streamer, it's transformed itself into a popular, well-rounded option. While they still have specialty sports plans, most of their current packages rival mainstream cable and satellite providers.
With regard to the Weather Channel, it's available in Fubo's most popular plans: Pro and Elite (it's NOT in the Sports + News or Latino plans). You'll also get a bunch of other weather-related programming with Fubo. Some of those include AccuWeather, FOX Weather and Weather Spy.
Here's a closer look at Fubo's plans that include the Weather Channel. As with all their packages, you get a 5-day free trial to try things out before you commit:
- First month discount
- Unlimited DVR
Features
- Excellent channel value
- Best for sports fans
- Unlimited DVR storage
- Watch on up to 10 Screens
Cons
- Smaller plans don't have TWC
Overall, Fubo features a wide variety of movies, reality, live TV and, especially, sports. In particular, Fubo is the leader of the pack in soccer. It includes a ton of major and smaller soccer leagues from all over the world. The Weather Channel is available on two of its English plans (Pro and Elite), along with a solid mix of similar channels. Bottom line, if you want a complete plan at a solid price, give Fubo a serious look.
Weather Channel on DIRECTV
- Channels: 160
- Best price: $84.99
- 5-day free trial
Visit DIRECTVIn a lot of ways, DIRECTV is a similar option to Fubo. It has a full lineup of channels and includes a bunch of sports options. The big difference is that DIRECTV caters to more U.S.-based sports (NFL, MLB and NBA). You'll also get more regional sports networks (RSNs) than any other streaming provider, including Fubo -- FanDuel Sports [region], NBC Sports, etc.
DIRECTV has four main plans and the Weather channel is available in all of 'em except for the smallest (Entertainment). Along with TWC, similar channels you'll get include AccuWeather and FOX Weather. So, overall, the same weather programming options as Fubo. Here's a closer look at their two most popular plans...
- $10 off for 24 months (save $240)
- Free Prem Movies for 3 mths
- $15 off for 24 months (save $360)
- Free Prem Movies for 3 mths
Features
- All local channels
- Unlimited cloud storage
- Simultaneous connections: 3
- Skip commercials
- Google voice remote
Cons
- Couple extra taxes
DIRECTV streaming is the younger cousin of DIRECTV Satellite. It doesn't include a physical dish, has no contracts and roughly the same programming. So, as long as you have fairly fast internet, DIRECTV is a solid, flexible way to get the Weather Channel. If you're on the fence, take advantage of their 5-day trial to try things out... you won't get charged until the 5 days are up and the regular plan kicks in.
Weather Channel on Hulu Live
- Channels: 95
- Best price: $89.99
- Free Disney+
Visit HuluFor years, Hulu was purely an on-demand provider but they now have a complete lineup of live channels, including TWC. With live TV, they only have two different plan options, one with ads and one without. Hulu + Live TV includes 95 channels -- the ad-supported plan goes for $89.99/mo.
The Weather Channel is included in both plans and as with the other providers on this plan, you'll also get access to FOX Weather. Pricing here is similar to Fubo and DIRECTV -- the big difference here is access to Hulu's original programming. So, if you dig at least few different Hulu movies or series, that might be the deciding factor. The cool part is they're all available on demand - you can watch them whenever you want, no recording required.
Features
- Solid mix of 95 high-value channels
- Simultaneous connections: 2
- Unlimited cloud DVR
- Access to huge Hulu on-demand library
- Disney+ and ESPN+ included free
Cons
- Less sports than Fubo and DIRECTV
Compared to Fubo and DIRECTV, Hulu produces a bunch of original programming. From popular series to full-length movies, they've had a pretty loyal following for years. Not so long ago, they added a live TV plan that includes a bunch of popular channels like TWC.
Compared to the other providers on this page, Hulu gives you access to a couple extra perks that are a part of the Disney family. Namely, all subscribers also get Disney+ and ESPN Unlimited (basically, all the ESPN networks, via the ESPN app). Both are included 100% free and are a solid bonus. For a lot of folks, that's the deciding factor in choosing Hulu.
Streaming services with and without Weather Channel
TWC is generally available on streaming providers with full channel lineups (similar to cable). In most cases, it's not found in the smallest package -- it's a bit of a premium channel. Mid-size providers like Sling don't usually include it. The only budget-friendly streaming provider with TWC is Frndly TV (not listed below). Check out more details...

Weather Channel apps
TWC has two main apps - a regular one you can get on your mobile phone or tablet. The other is exclusively for use on smart TVs or streaming TV devices. Both have different viewing and subscription options....
Smart TV, Streaming Device app

This one works on any modern smart TV (Samsung, Vizio, etc) or streaming TV device (Roku, Fire TV, Android TV, etc. It does NOT work with Apple TV). The cool part about this app is you can stream the actual Weather Channel live for a relatively low price, without the need for a cable TV/satellite subscription. It currently goes for $2.99/mo or $29.99/yr. Here's what that gets you:
- Weather Channel live stream
- On demand programming
- Customized local forecasts - an interactive view of all the weather in your area (hourly, daily, weekly)
- Detailed maps and radar
- Curated streaming news

Weather Channel Mobile app: Radar
The other is their excellent mobile app called Radar. With Doppler maps, storm trackers, air health reading and much more, it's an excellent companion on most trips. One of the best features is the 15-day weather forecaster. Compared to most weather sources, it's consistently accurate and sensitive to the smallest fluctuations in weather conditions. It's free to use but more in-depth forecasts, features and ad removal require a subscription.
Overall, the Radar app is super intuitive and available on iOS and Android. As of publication, the iOS version has a rating of 4.8/5 based on a whopping 5.5M reviews. The Android app carries a rating 4.6 from 3.4M reviews.
